About Us

For over 35 years Belden Street Montessori has offered an authentic Montessori early childhood program for children in our community ages 12 weeks through 6 years old. Our school is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization overseen by a Board of Trustees made up of parents, community members, and staff members. All donations to the school are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law, and all “profits” are returned to the school to enhance the program.

about_bsmsBelden Street Montessori offers four Early Childhood classrooms: two Preschool classes, a Toddler class, and an Infant class. Each of our classes is staffed by one teacher and a classroom aide. Each class has 10-24 children, for a staff ratio of no more than 2 to 24, with our Infant class allowing for full or part-time, half or full-day class and a 2 to 10 staff to child ratio.

We are located at 618 W. Belden Street, Sherman, Texas, in a converted house in a residential neighborhood. The hardwood floors and abundance of natural light from large windows give our large and well-equipped classrooms the warm, homey feel that Maria Montessori envisioned for her “Children’s House” for the young child. Each classroom has its own enclosed “work yard” to allow classroom activities to spill outdoors.

Consistent with Montessori philosophy and our own school’s emphasis on nature and the environment, we have a xeriscaped front flower garden, organic vegetable, herb and flower gardens out back, a huge playground, and a Nature Park area.

Sound interesting to you? We’d love to have you come visit our school! If you can come in the morning when we are in session, you will be able to see the children “in action” through one-way windows that look into each classroom. If you can come in the afternoon, we’d be delighted to give you a tour of the school and explain more about Montessori education.

Notice of Nondiscriminatory Policy:
Belden Street Montessori School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship or loan programs or any other school-administered program.
